胼足亚目(Tylopoda) 头骨较长，无角。古老种类上门齿齐全，较后期种类中仅剩第三门齿。臼齿新月型。内含两个科，即骆驼科(Camelidae)包括现生的骆驼和羊驼及其祖先和已绝灭的剑齿兽科(Xiphodontidae)。骆驼类在始新世晚期起源于北美，到上新世才开始进入亚洲、北非及南美。中国发现的骆驼化石不多。已知更新世前期的巨副驼(Paracamelus gigas)和更新世晚期的双峰驼(
